There’s no way around it: life is stressful. Are you under pressure? If so, it’s time to roll out your yoga mat and get ready to stretch, flex, and tone your way to a relaxed mind and body. Whether you prefer the triangle pose, child’s pose, or the downward-facing dog, these and plenty of other yoga poses are a great way to tap into your inner peace while de-stressing. Here are some great poses to do today.
1. Reclined eagle pose — Okay, so this move doesn’t necessarily look relaxing at first glance, (it involves you literally bending over backwards with your hands on the floor) but it is. When doing this pose, you get to concentrate on your breathing, stretch, and get an interesting view all at the same time.
2. Child’s pose — Doesn’t the name of this move just tickle you? When doing the child’s pose, you get on all fours and stretch yourself forward. Extend your arms as far out in front of you as you can and hold. Your back muscles are triggered.
3. Lotus pose — The lotus pose is inherently simple, but that’s what’s so nice about it. You simply sit and cross your ankles over one another so that your feet are in your lap. Brace both hands on your knees. Feel free to close your eyes and breathe deeply in and out to really reap the full benefits of this pose.
4. Downward-facing dog — The opposite of the reclined eagle pose in a way, the downward-facing dog is a yoga staple. On your feet and hands, angle yourself downward on your arms. If your feet can’t quite touch the floor, that’s no problem. This pose will become easier the more you do it.
5. Triangle pose — Make like a triangle with this yoga move. Step out with one leg, keeping it entirely straight. Bend over so that ideally, your hand could touch the floor beside your foot. Breathe deeply then repeat on the other side. This is another pose that takes flexibility to master but puts you in a stress-free mindset no matter how far you bend.
