Tired of patchy, thin, or shapeless brows? If so, then a little brow makeup may be all you need to add some oomph. Well groomed brows with a nice arch can work wonders for your look, but with so many different brow products out there, how can you know what’s right for you?

Eyebrow Pencils

Eyebrow pencils are one of the most common types of brow makeup; many women like that they’re both convenient to carry around and long-lasting. A brow pencil is ideal for defining your arches, but they can also produce some harsh lines, which is why it’s always important to blend. Many women will use brow pencils near their arches along with some brow powder to soften the lines a bit.

Eyebrow Gels

An eyebrow gel typically comes in a tube with a brush that looks similar to what you’d find in a mascara product. The tube itself contains a gel (both colored and clear gels are available) that is then applied to the brows. An eyebrow gel is great for filling in patchy brows and making brows appear fuller or more prominent. However, many women with curly hair (and thus curly brows) also use gel to hold the brows in place all day long.

Tips for Defined Brows

No matter which brow product you end up going with, the key to achieving great brows is to start with a plucking session. If you’re not comfortable plucking your own brows or worry about over-plucking/asymmetry, visit your local salon for a brow threading or waxing. It’s a lot easier to maintain your brows once they’ve been done by a pro.

Choosing the right product for your brows may take a little bit of experimentation and practice on your end, but once you find the right product for you, you’ll be rocking fierce brows every time you step outside the house.
